I'm Julia Anderson, the Director of Communication Space. I’m a communication and engagement specialist working with organisations that want to have sustainable and productive relationships with their communities, stakeholders and customers.

I specialise in working with organisations that are instigating some sort of change or improvement, and want to be deliberate and planned in bringing people along with them. My goal is to make it easy for people to imagine, understand and engage with the change, so they can have a voice in how the future will look.

I have particular strengths and experience in supporting projects related to urban growth, regeneration, urban planning, design and construction.

My key strength is in looking at things from a people perspective - I don’t know all the ins and outs of planning regulation or design phasing for example, but I do know how to pick out what will be important for people to understand and I know how to engage and communicate in a way that is inclusive and draws people in.

I have wide experience in supporting community and sector engagement in areas including city planning, urban design, housing, design and construction, Corrections (prisons and probation centres) and emergency management.

I’m based in Wellington and my services are available to clients across the Wellington region.

I’ve been in business since 2006. Before that I worked extensively in local government and the New Zealand government sector in senior communication roles. I have a good understanding of the administrative and political processes in the public sector, and an appreciation of business priorities and drivers through my involvement with urban growth and development.

I am certified in International Association of Public Participation essentials, and I comply with the IAP2 code of ethics.
